Bosa Marina, a historical beach

A sandy beach surrounded by a reddish landscape

Sardinia reveal itself with picturesque scenery and pristine harmony of its coastlines. This is shown by the beach of Bosa Marina, located at the south of the mouth of the Temo, the only navigable river in Sardinia with flatboats. The clarity and cleanliness of the sea water allows it to receive regularly the "5 Vele of Legambiente" an award that goes to the most clean Italian beaches, placing itself among the best Italian ones. It consists of a stretch of golden sand of about one kilometer that faces an immensity of emerald green with significant shades of blue.

The peculiarities of the sandy beach is to combine the magic landscape to local history. The hill of Isola Rossa, in fact, is dominated by the so-called "Torre di Bosa", (Tower of Bosa) dated from the mid-sixteenth century, built to defend the beach from the Barbary pirates invasions.

Built with trachytic tuffs, stones found on site, is now home for cultural activities and can be reached through a pedestrian surface, connected to the mainland, that can take long walks, during which you can observe the magnificent sunsets granted by nature.

A polyfunctional coast allowing holidays in full rest thanks to the various services offered, such as the rental of beach umbrellas, bars, dining facilities; but it provides also water activities such as windsurfing, kite surfing and beach excursions.

The typical and known tourist activity taken place in the waters of Bosa Marina is the excursion on a sailing boat, which, depending on the selected route, may allow you to observe from the boat not only dolphins but also the vault of the Sardinian griffon (Gyps fulvus) on the promontory of Capo Marrargiu. Necessary to book in the inland office. Suitable for families, Bosa Marina for its archaeological imprint ensures the fun associated with culture.
